About Alan Truong

Alan is the co-owner of Black Jade and has been tattooing since 2014.

He specialises in large-scale Oriental and Japanese work, with a strong focus on composition, flow, and storytelling. His artistic influence is deeply rooted in Buddhist and Tibetan imagery, as well as traditional Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints, folklore, and mythology.

Drawn to the rich symbolism within these traditions, Alan approaches each piece with an appreciation for their history while incorporating his own contemporary perspective.

Alan typically works in bold colour for his Japanese pieces, creating striking, eye-catching designs, while his Oriental work is often rendered in black and grey to emphasise intricate detail and depth.

While he is best known for large-scale projects, he also enjoys working on smaller pieces and remains versatile in his approach.

At the core of it all, Alan is passionate about tattooing and dedicated to creating meaningful work for every client.
